HE TIDES DIGITAL LIBRARY is an initiative of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art to make accessible through the internet, rare, fragile, or other important but not easily accessible works about the greater Passamaquoddy region. Links will also be provided to important collections held at other digital libraries such as Early Canadiana Online: Canadiana; the Making of America digital project of Cornell University: Making of America; the Maine Memory Project of the Maine Historical Society: Maine Memory Network; and the Virtual Exhibitions of the New Brunswick Museum: New Brunswick Museum Virtual Exhibitions.

The initiative is very much in its beginning and experimental stage. Books, articles, historical photographs, maps, and audio recordings will also be included in the Tides Digital Library. The map component has only just begun and three initial historical maps can be viewed at: Cartography. The digital formatting of historical photographs has not begun, but is expected to draw on an initial collection of over 1,500 photographs.
