Music at North Church — July 14 & 15, 2018:

An early music festival consisting of two early music performances will be held the weekend of July 14 and 15, 2018 at TIMA’s historic 1819 North Church building. The main space with its 23 foot high ceiling is known for its exceptional acoustics (considered the best in the region) in a very historic setting. The performances will include a custom made Schlicker chamber organ that will be installed in the building in June, 2018 in a recently built specially constructed space at the rear of building. A new larger performance platform has also recently been constructed in front of where the organ will be housed. An evening early music performance by Ensemble Abendmusik will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 beginning at 7 pm and will feature eight performers including an organist, a baroque trumpet, a soprano vocalist and five string instrumentalists. An afternoon solo organ recital by James David Christie, organist for the Boston Symphony, will be held beginning at 3 pm on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Performers for the two concerts will be in residence for the week before to rehearse for the concerts. Members of Ensemble Abendmusik performing on July 14 include:

Gigi Turgeon (violin I)
Laura Papandrea (violin II)
Anne Black (viola)
Sarah Freiberg Ellison (violoncello)
Andrea Arceci (bass)
