Steven Trefonides: Secrets

August 18 – September 18, 2016

Opening reception, Thursday, Aug. 18, 5-7 pm.

The Tides Institute & Museum of Art is currently exhibiting, “Steven Trefonides: Secrets,” which will continue through September 18. Steven Trefonides is considered to be part of the Boston Expressionist movement and was part of a group of artists from the city who spent time in Lubec, Maine, throughout their careers. The exhibition is guest curated by Martha W. Lewis and is a retrospective of the artists’ work. Paintings, drawings and photographs from the 1960s to the early 2000s are featured, as well as works by other artists who were active during the same time period in both Boston and Lubec. A catalogue will be published to accompany the exhibition and will be available for purchase (click here to purchase a copy online: Tides Institute Shopify: Secrets catalogue). Generous support for this exhibition comes from private funders, the Hamilton Cove Fund and the Washington County Fund, both of the Maine Community Foundation.
